Born Out Of Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the oldest cities in France and famous for the merlot wines it exports worldwide. However, a new product originates from this well-known port town- but it is not a product of merlot - it’s a product of music. French born DJ and producer Leinender is a multi-faceted musician. He carefully “ages” and “ferments” his music with moody melodies and pulsating percussions. Leinender has blended perfect, passionate flavors in his music yielding a “liquid trance.” In the process, he has risen to become one of the most intensely talented trance DJs and composers born out of Bordeaux.

An Artist Emerged

Leinender began his interest in music at a very early age. As a child in the early 1990s, Leinender was both immersed and amazed by the sounds of the eurodance rage blaring over the local radio stations. The rich sounds of synth, bass and melodic hooks urged the muse inside him. In an instant, Leinender knew what he wanted to do in life and he began to imagine himself as a DJ. He loved to listen to the DJs on the radio, but he could hear untapped potential within the dance genre. He wanted to do it differently - do it better. He knew he could take it all to a new level. It was fate that he got his hands on music software and immediately began to experiment with creating remixes. He says, “At first my goal was remixing only, but I started creating my own melodies eventually. They were unstructured, and I never managed to get the sound I wanted … it was always some type of compromise in my mind.” Leinender would hone his melodic skills, and gain experience… an artist was emerging.

Transcribing Emotion Into Music

Leinender’s music comes from emotions deep within. His compositions are based on characters and storylines that he develops within in his mind. He imagines a story or character that is very sad or perhaps oppressed. It is this method of composition that results in a lead-line that is filled with mood and melancholy. Most of his tracks are “club” tracks. However, on closer examination, there is always something unique within the melodies that overlay the tracks. They are simple, repetitive, yet intensely addictive. Even without lyrics, his tracks still tell a story and show he has a gift of transcribing emotion into music.

Fire, Ice and Emotions

Near the end of 2006, Leinender created his own label called Frozenforce. It would be through this new label in 2007 and 2008, that he would release two singles; “Wastefullness” and “Sight of the Unseen.” “Wastefullness” would go onto be reviewed in OnlyforDJ’s - the top Electronic music magazine in France. In 2008, Leinender continued to “freak out” his fans while climbing the charts to the very top of the MySpace trance and gothic charts for French artists. He is also rated as one of the top DJs in France on the web site TheDJlist.com. IN 2008 Leinender embarked on a new single “Alley Cats” which is a collaborative work with Techno DJ and producer D.R.U.N.K.E.N from Miami, Florida. This single would be a collision of the icy sounds of Leinender and the fiery fury of D.R.U.N.K.E.N. His latest work is his first full-length album called Epiphaneia. Taken together all of his works are a mix of fire, ice and emotions.

Drinking Down Epiphaneia

Leinender’s projects continue with a creative fervor. His latest release, Epiphaneia, reflects a complete evolution in his creative musical process. The twelve tracks are an anthology, an ensemble. Leinender explains, “I wrote the tracks as an author would write chapters in a book. As far as the title, “epiphaneia” is a Greek word meaning manifestation. Each track is a story, an experience, an emotional vision quest leading to a manifestation of understanding.” Epiphaneia becomes something much deeper as Leinender continues pushing the limits of Trance. In all of his works he produces a unique blend of Trance. Unlike a true merlot, served at room temperature, his “liquid trance” is always served cold, full of emotion, and dripping with imagery. His work is an addictive trip into his musical mind. How ironic that flowing out of the wine country of Bordeaux, France is a musical liquid…uncomplicated, icy, yet full of flavor and fire.
